Wittenberge mit e am Ende

Vergangene Nacht hat es in Arneburg geregnet und gestürmt. Morgens regnet es immer noch. Wir lassen uns Zeit mit dem Frühstück und als wir um 9:40 starten hat der Regen aufgehört. Mit 15 Grad ist es dazu vergleichsweise warm.

Havelberg

Unterwegs sehen wir Schwärme von Staren und Enten, die Formationsflug üben. Offenbar schon für den Flug in den Süden. Es ist Herbst, kein Zweifel mehr.

Als wir in Havelberg eintreffen, scheint die Sonne wieder.

Havelberg entstand auf einer Insel in der Havel. Bedeutend war im Mittelalter der Schiffsbau, gegen Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts wurden sogar seetüchtige Schiffe gebaut. Das Foto zeigt den im 15. Jahrhundert fertig gestellten Dom in ostelbischer Backsteinarchitektur.

Wir folgen der Havel, die über fast 10 km im Abstand von 100 bis 500 Metern parallel zur Elbe verläuft, bis sie schließlich in diese mündet.

Das Foto zeigt im Vordergrund die Havel und dahinter die Elbe.

Der Weg entlang der Havel verläuft auf dem Damm. Und hier haben wir in exponierter Lage den Preis für die Vertreibung der Regenwolken bezahlt: Wind aus westlicher bis nördlicher Richtung, mit anderen Worten, Gegenwind, der uns auch für den Rest des Tages nicht mehr verließ.

Pontonbrücke

Gegenwind hält auf und demoralisiert. Geeignete Gegenmaßnahmen sind zum Beispiel Pausen mit Kaffee und köstlichem Käsekuchen in Hinzdorf. Das hält zwar noch mehr auf, aber die Moral bessert sich.

Kurz vor Wittenberge ließen Sanierungsarbeiten an einem Wehr die direkte Weiterfahrt nicht mehr zu. Während die Autos sonstwohin umgeleitet wurden, hat man sich für die Radfahrer etwas besonderes ausgedacht: Eine Pontonbrücke (leider nicht über die Elbe, sondern nur einem untergeordneten Kanal). Mit entsprechendem rhythmischen Herumhüpfen haben Claudia und ich mit dem Ding schön Wellen machen können.

Schließlich haben wir um 17:20 nach 70 Kilometern Wittenberge erreicht und im Hotel Zum Stern Quartier genommen.

Mit einem guten Essen beim Chinesen im Ratskeller des Wittenbergener Rathauses und einigen Flaschen Tsingtao-Bier haben wir den Tag ausklingen lassen.

Hinter Havelberg haben wir übrigens die Landesgrenze überschritten. Wir sind jetzt in Brandenburg.
